And How It Can Help Your Child Too
Growing up, I was a shy, quiet, and reserved kid. I didn’t have the loudest voice in the room. I wasn’t the first to put my hand up in class. And I certainly didn’t think I’d one day be performing in front of thousands of people or speaking confidently to large audiences around the world.
But that all started to change the day I discovered freestyle football.
⚽ Finding My Voice Through Freestyle
Unlike team sports where communication and confidence often come first, freestyle football gave me the space to grow in my own time. I didn’t need to compete with anyone. I didn’t need to shout for the ball. I just needed a football and a bit of space.
I’d spend up to 5 hours a day practising on my own, not because I had to — but because I loved it. The more time I spent learning tricks, the more I began to feel proud of what I could do. That quiet pride slowly grew into confidence.
With every new move I learned, I felt more comfortable in my own skin.
🧠 The Confidence-Building Power of Freestyle Football
Freestyle football is one of the best tools for building self-confidence, especially for young people who are more introverted or don’t always thrive in traditional team sports.
Here’s why:
- ✅ It’s self-paced: Kids can progress at their own speed, with no pressure or judgement.
- ✅ It’s expressive: Freestyle is all about finding your style — there’s no “right” way to move.
- ✅ It’s satisfying: Landing a trick after hours of trying gives a huge confidence boost.
- ✅ It’s non-competitive: Freestyle is about personal growth, not beating an opponent.
🎤 From Practising Alone to Performing on Stage
As my skills developed, so did my belief in myself. I began performing at small events. Then bigger ones. Then I was doing live shows at football stadiums, appearing on TV, and eventually holding 25+ Guinness World Records.
I even started speaking publicly — something my younger self would have never imagined. Today, I confidently deliver school assemblies, motivational talks, and interactive workshops in front of hundreds of pupils at a time.
And it all started with a ball and a quiet space to practise.
👦 Why This Matters for Today’s Children
Not every child is loud. Not every pupil is sporty. But every child deserves the chance to feel confident in themselves— and freestyle football creates the perfect environment for that.
In my school visits, I see shy students light up when they land their first trick. I’ve watched quiet children take the stage during a demo. And I’ve had countless teachers tell me that students who usually stay on the sidelines come alive during my sessions.
Freestyle football isn’t just fun — it’s a confidence-building experience that can change lives.
